Mind • Body • Soul

The journey with plant medicine begins long before the ceremony itself.
The days and weeks leading up to your journey are an invitation to slow down, simplify and begin turning your attention inward. Preparation is not about being perfect or arriving in a particular state. It is about creating space, within the body, the mind and the heart, for what is to come.
At Lionheart, we see preparation as an important part of the medicine itself.

BODY

Preparing your physical vessel with a plant medicine dieta, which includes simplifying what we consume and reducing things that may overstimulate or burden the body.
We recommend beginning your dieta at least two to four weeks before your journey, becoming more mindful and intentional as the retreat approaches

During this period:

  • Move towards a simple, clean vegetarian diet.
  • Reduce processed foods, excess sugar, caffeine and stimulants.
  • Keep food relatively light, with less salt, spice and heavy or fried foods.
  • Stay well hydrated and allow your body adequate rest.
  • Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs.
  • Avoid smoking wherever possible.
  • Abstain from sexual activity minimum two weeks before the journey.

We also encourage some form of regular physical practice, yoga, walking, stretching, breathwork or gentle exercise. The intention is not to train harder, but to become more connected to your body and more grounded within it.

MIND

Creating space within

As the retreat approaches, begin reducing some of the noise of everyday life.

Where possible, spend less time on your phone and social media. Create moments of quiet. Spend time in nature. Journal. Sit with yourself without constantly needing to fill the space.
Even 10–15 minutes a day of meditation, conscious breathing or stillness can begin to shift the way you listen to yourself.

You may also begin reflecting on your intention.

Rather than asking, “What do I want the medicine to give me?” you might gently explore:

What am I ready to understand?
What am I ready to release?
What am I ready to receive?
What part of myself am I ready to meet?

Come with an intention, but not an expectation.

Plant medicine journeys do not always unfold in the way we imagine. Sometimes what arises is beautiful and expansive; sometimes it may be challenging or unexpected.
The invitation is not to control the journey, but to remain curious about what it is showing you.

SOUL

Arriving with openness

There is no special spiritual state you need to achieve before coming.

You do not need to have all the answers.
You do not need to have healed everything.
You do not need to become someone different.

Arrive just as you are.

Perhaps the most meaningful preparation is simply cultivating an open heart, a willingness to listen, to trust, to receive and to meet whatever arises with curiosity and compassion. Prayer, meditation, gratitude, time in nature or any practice that helps you feel connected to something larger than yourself can be beautiful ways of preparing. And as you move closer to the journey, allow life to become a little quieter.

Rest more. Consume less. Listen more deeply. Bring your intention with you, but hold it lightly.Because this journey is not about chasing an experience. It is about creating the conditions in which you can meet yourself more fully.

The journey does not begin on the first day of the retreat.
It begins here.
